In 2017, I worked with AECOM to support them to design and deliver their annual leadership summit. Working on a tight deadline, I collaborated with their internal stakeholders about the behavioural changes they were hoping the summit might inspire. They were keen for individuals to see that every interaction about their collective identity, culture and direction was important and made an impact. They desired their constituents to leave feeling lit up about the work they do and their contribution to the organisation; inspired about the future direction. They were also keen to provide time and space for their people to consider the habits that would lead to positive behavioural and cultural shifts.

AECOM were using their own leaders to facilitate and lead the conference, so my role was to empower them to do a good job. I created the run sheets and conference program. We chose to run it in a summit format, with regular break out activities were people would form smaller groups to discuss and apply learning. I wrote the activities for the break out sessions, created their facilitator guide and learning resources and then trained selected leaders to run the sessions.

The feedback was outstanding, with the conference director saying constituents described it as the best conference in their organisations history.
